Will 'The Beaver' Put Mel Gibson's Career Back on Track?

The first trailer and advertisement posters for Mel Gibson’s latest hand-puppet film “The Beaver” was released by Summit Entertainment on Friday, December 3.

In the movie, Gibson plays the role of Walter Black- a man who was once a successful toy executive and family man who became depressed and lost all his hopes in life. He tried different methods of self- therapy to put himself back on track, but he always fails...until a beaver puppet enters his life.

“The Beaver” is a family drama directed by Jodie Foster, who also co-stars with Gibson. Foster plays the role of Merideth, Walter’s wife.

Summit Entertainment is confident that the past scandals that surrounded the actors’ life particularly the controversies regarding his former relationship with Oksana Grigorieva who accused the actor of domestic abuse will not affect the movie.

Based on the opinion poll conducted in August, Americans were asked if the Gibson-Grigorieva scandal will affect their decision in buying a ticket for a Mel Gibson Movie, 76 percent of the respondents said no.

The survey proves that moviegoers are mature and they go for the quality of the film and the performance of the actors involved in the movie. Any gossip surrounding a movie star does not affect the moviegoers’ judgment in general.

Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster are both good actors and won two Academy Awards. The movie is family oriented and it will surely attract a whole family to watch “The Beaver.”

Jodie Foster said that Gibson’s acting in the movie is one of the most powerful and moving performances” he had ever done.

Judging from the first promotional movie trailer, the dialogues and the characters are inspiring. You can feel the strong emotions coming from the actors particularly in the scene when Foster delivered the dialogue, “I fought for you, now I continue to fight for you because I love you.”

Movie viewers will love to watch an inspiring film just like “The Beaver” where they can relate their life and witness a happy ending.

“The Beaver will surely put Mel Gibson’s career back on track and people will love this movie which will be released in theaters on spring 2011.
