'Battlestar Galactica' Star Katee Sackhoff Confirmed for New A&E Pilot

'Battlestar Galactica' Star Katee Sackhoff Confirmed for New A&E Pilot She won't be part of a futuristic military this time, but "Battlestar Galactica" star Katee Sackhoff will be in uniform again when she stars in a new pilot for A&E.

Sackhoff has been confirmed for the new show "Longmire" according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show will follow a Wyoming sheriff played by Robert Taylor and will likely be a police drama in the style of "Justified." Sackhoff will play the sheriff's deputy.

Sackhoff is most famous for her role as Kara Thrace, a.k.a. Starbuck, in the hit sci-fi show "Battlestar Galactica." Starbuck was a rough-and-tumble kind of character, so a sheriff's deputy is a role for which Sackhoff should be well-suited. Sackhoff has also appeared in other action-oriented shows like "24" and "CSI."

Fellow SyFy alum Lou Diamond Phillips ("Stargate Universe") will be joining Sackhoff and Taylor in the cast, along with Bailey Chase ("Saving Grace") and Cassidy Freeman ("Smallville").

A&E is mostly known for their reality TV ("Dog the Bounty Hunter," "Intervention," "Hoarders") but seems to be making a new push for more scripted shows:

"Longmire" follows as the cable network recently premiered "Breakout Kings." It will be great to see Sackhoff back in action again in a series regular role.
