Is Batman Afraid of Captain America? Warner Bros. Moves Release Dates, Sets Superhero Sequels Through 2020

Are Batman and Superman afraid of Captain America?

According to the recent scheduling change from Warner Bros. it looks like it: "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" has given up its May 6, 2015 release date and moved earlier in the year to March 25, 2015.

It's rare to see a big blockbuster actually move a release date up (usually, due to setbacks and reshoots, they have to be pushed back instead). But considering that the third "Captain America" movie was set to come out in that same weekend in May, Warner Bros. may have decided that trying to take on the red-hot Marvel was a bad idea.

That doesn't mean that Warner Bros. and DC Comics are giving up on competing with Marvel and Disney at all, though. In fact, along with this schedule change, Warner Bros. also announced release dates for nine more untitled DC Comics movies.

If they manage to adhere to that schedule, that puts WB on track for one superhero movie in 2016 and two more each year following, usually with one in April and one in June or July, from 2017 on to 2020.

That might sound like a lot of movies, but if WB is really planning on making the Justice League into a film franchise as Marvel did with the Avengers, it's going to require ongoing solo movies for Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, and likely Flash and Green Lantern.

In fact, one actor who auditioned for the role of the red-costumes speedster on CW's "The Flash" told Yidio exclusively that they were told they would also be considered to play the same role in potential movie crossover as well.

So, the groundwork is laid out for DC and WB to take Marvel and Disney on directly, year by year. The question is, with these and upcoming Spider-Man and X-Men titles coming out as well, will audience get serious superhero fatigue before we even hit 2020?
