'Barefoot Contessa' Snubs Make-A-Wish Child and Tries to Make Right

'Barefoot Contessa' Snubs Make-A-Wish Child and Tries to Make Right The Barefoot Contessa could be sticking her barefoot in her mouth.

After refusing to meet a 6-year-old boy with leukemia who twice requested a cooking session with her through the Make-A-Wish Foundation, The Contessa (Ina Garten) has had a change of heart.

Garten was served a heaping of bad press after word leaked that she had responded to the request of Enzo Pereda by turning down him down, citing her book tour and other engagements.

Pereda said he would wait, which he did, only to be turned down for a second time. Disappointed, Pereda and The Make-A-Wish moved onto his second choice, a swim with dolphins.

Following a wave of negative publicity, Ina has made some room at her table.

"Ina became aware of Enzo's story this weekend and will be calling him today," a spokesperson for Garten said in a statement to ABCNews.com. "She looks forward to inviting him to spend some time with her at the Food Network studios."

Garten plans on moving forward with the invitation independent of Make-A-Wish, as the foundation is now focused on fulfillingĀ Pereda's swim with dolphins.
