Barbara Walter Recovering From Head Injury

Barbara Walter Recovering From Head Injury Barbara Walters is in recovery for a head injury—but don’t panic about who will take her “View” slot just yet.

The 83-year-old fell and cut her head while visiting the Ambassador's residence Saturday night in Washington, D.C. She was scheduled to cover tomorrow’s presidential inauguration events, but instead will be taking time to recover.

"Barbara Walters fell on a stair last evening while visiting the British Ambassador's residence and the fall left her with a cut on her forehead," explains said Jeffrey Schneider, senior vice president of ABC News.

"Out of an abundance of caution, she went to the hospital to have her cut tended to, have a full examination and remains there for observation. Barbara is alert (and telling everyone what to do), which we all take as a very positive sign."

Sounds like she’s being an ideal patient.

No word yet on when Walters will be returning to the air, but more than likely she will be taking her time in recovering.

Walters is considered an icon in the world of female hosts, stirring up an incredible $1 million salary when she was an anchorwoman back in the 1970’s. She started with NBC and moved to ABC, where she has been a staple for three decades.

In 1997 Walters created “The View,” which still runs to this day and features female celebrities and personalities discussing current events and interviewing guests.

Walters was last in the hospital in May 2010 for heart surgery, from which she made a full recovery. Here’s hoping she does the same, again.
