'Bad Boys 3' Is Happening, Says Martin Lawrence

Whatcha gonna do when "Bad Boys" comes back to theaters?

During his appearance on "Conan," Martin Lawrence dropped a major awesome-bomb on the audience: There's going to be a new "Bad Boys" movie.

"I just talked to Jerry Bruckheimer yesterday and he said its real, they’re working on the script, they’re getting close and it all looks good," Lawrence said.

"Bad Boys 3" would round the classic buddy-cop franchise into a trilogy, albeit a very stretched-out one: "Bad Boys" was released in 1995, "Bad Boys II" followed almost a decade later in 2003. Now, 11 years later, we might have a third.

Of course, there are other factors involved: Will Smith would have to be on board as well, but considering how quiet his career has been of late, we doubt he would say no.

Also, Lawrence didn't mention involvement from director Michael Bay, only producer Jerry Bruckheimer. If Bay had to be attached, one has to wonder where he would fit it into his schedule considering he is involved in both the "Transformers" franchise as well as a potential franchise in "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," which performed fairly well (though not spectaularly) at the box office in its opening weekend.

But we would still gladly take one more installment of Smith and Lawrence busting bad guys regardless of whether Bay comes back or not!
