'Bachelorette' Contestant Dies After Paragliding Accident

'Bachelorette' Contestant Dies After Paragliding Accident Sad news this week. Eric Hill, a contestant in the upcoming 10th season of "The Bachelorette" (airing May 19th), has passed away.

Hill died from injuries sustained after a paragliding accident. Hill, 31, was gliding off of a hill in Draper, Utah, when his parachute partially collapsed.

Salt Lake County Unified Fire spokesman Brian Anderson says Hill's accident "swung him into the hillside like a pendulum."

Though he was not far from the ground, and wearing proper safety gear, the velocity that he hit the rock with was enough to cause serious injury. Hill passed away in the hospital.

Hill was an adventurer, and had a goal of setting a world recod by visiting every country on Earth in 1,200 days. However he interrupted this dream to participate in ABC's reality dating show.

Producers of "The Bachelorette" say they are "deeply saddened to hear about the tragic passing of our friend, Eric Hill.

"Eric inspired us every day with his passion, his courage and his adventurous spirit, and for that we are very thankful. On behalf of our cast, crew and producers, we send our love, our thoughts and our prayers to Eric's family during this difficult time."
