'Bachelor' Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff Have Broken Up
by Andy Neuenschwander
It looks like Whitney Bischoff didn't want to live on a farm in Iowa after all...at least not with Chris Soules.
The couple, whom America got to know in the most recent season of "The Bachelor," has officially split. The news was announced first by the show's creator, Mike Fleiss, who wrote on Twitter: "Sad news to report: @souleschris and @whitbisch are no longer engaged."
Soules and Bischoff also released their own joint statement to Us Weekly: "Whitney Bischoff and Chris Soules have mutually and amicably decided to end their engagement," the statement said. "They part with nothing but respect and admiration for one another and will continue to be supportive friends. They wish to thank everyone who has supported them through this journey."
The split comes just two months after Soules proposed to Bischoff at the end of "The Bachelor" season 19. Soules, who grew up on a farm in Iowa, made a big deal over the course of the season about how he would want to live with his future wife in his small-town home.
In fact, just earlier this month the couple took a road trip to Iowa and Bischoff documented it all on Twitter and Instagram. On May 5, just a little more than three weeks ago, Bischoff wrote, "I love you @souleschris! You impressed me each and every week with all you accomplished! You make me so proud!"
Soules and Bischoff follow in a long line of "Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" contestants who have broken off their engagements soon after the end of their season, the most recent being the split between Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray back in January.
