'The Avengers' Will Reunite at The Oscars! Avengers, Assemble!

You know what award shows just never have enough of?

Yeah. Superheroes.

Good news! At this year’s upcoming 85th Annual Academy Awards, defenders of the universe will re-unite… to present some lucky nominee with an Oscar.

Which actor, director, writer, etc. will never forget the day they were handed an Oscar by members of S.H.I.E.L.D.?

Most of the cast of the blockbuster hit “The Avengers” will be appearing…

That means big names Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, and Samuel L. Jackson.

No Scarlett Johansson? No Chris Hemsworth? No Loki… er… Tom Hiddleston?

Is that because Scarlett Johansson has never been nominated for an Oscar?

C’mon, Scar-Jo. Neither has Chris Evans, and he’s still showing up. Don’t let Broadway’s “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” keep you away!

Still, even without Black Widow, Thor, and Loki… Not a bad line up.

“We are happy to re-unite the ‘Avengers’ cast to present on our show,” said awards producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron. “Audiences who enjoyed the year’s biggest box office hit will be excited to see these terrific actors back together again.”

“The Avengers” was the top grossing movie of 2012… by a lot. It set a record with its opening weekend of $207.4 million, and earned in domestic total about $623 million. Not too shabby.

The film, directed by Joss Whedon, is nominated for Best Visual Effects.

You can tune into The Academy Awards, hosted this year by comedian Seth MacFarlane, on February 24th, 8pm EST on ABC.
