'The Avengers' FINALLY Reveals Its Alien Enemies... See Them Here
by Andy NeuenschwanderPerhaps it was because Marvel wanted to keep its cards close to its chest, and not show the alien enemy in "The Avengers" until later in the marketing game. Or, perhaps it was because they weren't done with the CGI yet, and they wanted to make sure everything looked good before the Internet at large started commenting on it.
Whatever the reason, it no longer applies as the newest TV spot for "The Avengers" now features a glimpse at the alien invaders in the movie. Previous trailers have shown us their vehicles (and our heroes blowing a lot of them up), but this is the first look at the face of the enemy.
Who are they, then and how do they compare to the comics? Judging by the photo, they look pretty similar to Skrulls, though it's hard to say if they have the trademark pointy Skrull ears with those helmets in the way. But that would open a big can of worms, as the Skrulls are shape-shifters in the comics, and it seems to me that it would muddy the plot of a movie that's already dealing with the formation of the Avengers.
Other theories have suggested that they might be the Kree or the Atlanteans, but judging by this photo, it looks much more like the Skrull to me.
The movie, which features Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Scarlett Johanssen as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Chris Evans as Captain America, is due out this summer.
Check out a picture of the Skrull(?) below, plus an image from the comics for reference.
