Avatar Most Pirated Film of 2010

According to Torrent Freak, the multi-awarded movie was downloaded from the torrent site 16, 580,000 times, 33% higher from last years’ most pirated movie Star Trek which was downloaded from the same website by 11 million times.

Although Avatar has been pirated more than 16 million times, the movie still made a whopping $2.8 billion, the sales record is number one in the worldwide box office so far. Furthermore, the film’s DVD sales is also performing well in the market.

It is obvious that the film industry have been making film in 3D which is their best hope in fighting film piracy however, it looks like it doesn’t really matter for the crooks if the movie is 3D or not.

The movie Kick Ass about a high school student and a comic fan who decided to become a super hero landed the second most pirated movie with more than 11, 400 downloads also higher than Star Trek.

Leonardo DiCaprio’s Inception is the most popular movie being pirated during the past months and it ranked no. 3 with 9,720,000 downloads.
