Aubrey Plaza Thanks Kanye West After MTV Movie Awards Stunt

Aubrey Plaza’s odd stunt at the MTV music awards, now dubbed “pulling a Kanye,” may have confused, amused, or irritated audiences… but MTV insists they were not on the in regarding the interruption.

As Will Ferrell accepted his award for Comedic Genius, Plaza, seated in the front row (which skeptics are noting as odd, as even the much higher grossing stars of “The Avengers” had to sit a few rows back), dashed up on the stage and awkwardly tried to remove the award from Ferrell’s hand.

“What’s happening. Are you okay?” Ferrell asked, hanging onto his popcorn.

“Yup,” Plaza answered, seeming a little chagrined, and returning to her seat. She had in hand what appeared to be a cocktail, and written on her chest “# The To Do List,” to promote the August arrival of her new film.

Was it all just a publicity stunt to draw attention to the movie?

Was Ferrell in on it?

"Aubrey Plaza everyone, just like we rehearsed it," said Ferrell after she slunk back to her seat, looking a little relieved by his response. However it’s unclear whether or not the move was pre-arranged.

"I think she wanted to tell me something important," he joked after the incident. "It was just a lot of hot liquor breath and sweat. Then she ran away."

"Thanks for the advice @kanyewest went better than planned!" the “Parks and Recreation” star tweeted later.

One thing is for certain—whether or not Ferrell was in on it, MTV frowned upon the move. Plaza was removed by security during the next commercial break.
