'Arrested Development' Creator Assures Fans a Movie Will be Coming
by Shannon KeirnanIf you, like many, are concerned that “Arrested Development,” which is getting a new life on Netflix soon, may never make it to that much-anticipated movie… creator Mitch Hurwitz has a few words of reassurance.
“I’m confident that we will succeed at that,” he said during a question and answer session at the South By Southwest Film Festival.
The fourteen episodes that will be hitting Netflix for the fourth season of the quirky show, according to Hurwitz, are arranged to help bring the show to the big screen some day.
“There is a bigger story out there that does exist,” he hinted. He added that he had originally planned to go straight to the film, but he had more story that he wanted to tell before he was ready.
During the session, where stars Will Arnett and Jeffrey Tambor also sat in, Hurwitz gave audiences a few sneak peeks from upcoming episodes.
The first clip features Lucille Bluth (Jessica Walter) smoking a cigarette and blowing the smoke into the mouth of Buster (Tony Hale) because she’s not allowed to smoke inside or go out on the terrace.
The second clip simply shows Michael (Jason Bateman) with a mysterious black eye. He tells Gob (Arnett) that something terrible has happened to him.
The show was cancelled in 2006, but picked up recently by Netflix. It will air exclusively on the streaming site, and all fourteen episodes will be available to view at once.
If they make an “Arrested Development” movie would you see it?
