Will Arnett Joins The New Teenage Mutant 'Ninja Turtles'

Will Arnett Joins The New Teenage Mutant 'Ninja Turtles' News from the upcoming Michael-Bay produced "Ninja Turtles” (as in, Teenage Mutant) re-make keeps causing heads to shake.

Can news that comedian Will Arnett will be joining the cast make things any better?

The “30 Rock” alum has signed on for the film, but his character is being kept a “secret” for now.

He will not, however, be playing Casey… which leaves very few main characters left as an option. The actors playing Splinter and Shredder have not been announced yet, so they’re out too.

Arnett joins a cast which includes Megan Fox as April O’Neil, Alan Ritchson as Raphael, Pete Ploszek as Leonardo, Noel Fisher as Michelangelo, Jeremy Howard as Donatello, and Jerry Mathers as the Beaver.

The movie, which hits theater in June of 2014, is directed by Jonathan Liebesman with a script by Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec.

Unlike the original “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” where actors provided their voice but others wore the costumes, Bay and Liebesman will be focusing on motion capture. This means that the actors will play their roles, their mannerisms and body language shaping their characters, and special effects will be added. It is similar to the method used in “Avatar.”

Paramount Pictures has also revealed that they anticipate this new “Ninja Turtles” to become the start of a franchise… so if all goes well (and maybe even it if doesn’t), there will be sequels to come.

Until then, you can catch Arnett on the resurrected “Arrested Development,” exclusive to Netflix.
