Apple Announces New iPhone and Watch, Offers Free U2 Album to All iTunes Users

Happy iPhone 6 Day!

Apple took to the stage today to announce their newest additions to the iPhone line. Apple CEO Tim Cook showed off two new models: the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, the former with a 4.7-inch display and the latter with a larger 5.5-inch screen to compete with some of the larger Android sets out there.

The company also announced a brand-new piece of Apple hardware: the Apple Watch. The wearable is similar to the Samsung watch released last year, but works in tandem with iPhones and has a number of Apple-esque features (like being able to send your heartbeat to a friend's watch).

Closing out the event was a performance by U2, who played a never-before-heard new single. U2 frontman Bono revealed that they have been working on a secret album with all new songs, which will be released today to all iTunes users for free.

For those keeping track, that's more than 500 million people getting the album for free.

If you're not yet an iTunes user and you still want the free album, Apple will allow those who sign up for iTunes within the coming days to access the album as well.

The album, titled "Songs of Innocence," can be streamed on iTunes Radio or downloaded from iTunes starting today. The album will be exclusive to Apple through October 13, after which point it will be available for purchase elsewhere.
