Another 'Vampire Diaries' Spin-Off on the Way?
by EG
The Vampire Diaries ended its eight-season run last week, but fans shouldn't despair. They've still got The Originals, which begins its fourth season at the end of this week. And according to creator Julie Plec, there could be another TVD spin-off coming in the future.
"We do have crossover elements in the upcoming season of The Originals that's about to start airing, and it all brings it back to what I see as a future for either The Originals or another piece of the franchise to launch off of the end of The Originals," Plec told The Hollywood Reporter. "So I look forward to being able to play around in that sandbox and see if I can make something of it."
Plec says she's going to take a vacation before thinking about the future, however, so it could be some time before any new series get into the works. There have been rumors that the upcoming fourth season of The Originals will be that series' last, but CW president Mark Pedowitz has said that he's open to continuing the show if its viewership warrants it.
Regardless of what happens to The Originals, it's comofrting to know at least that Plec and the production team are not ready to give up on the TVD universe just yet.
