Another Cast Member Defends '13 Reasons Why'

“13 Reasons Why” actor Tom Everett Scott says the controversial Netflix show is actually helping teens come forward.
“I think that a lot of conversation is happening now because of the show and what it presents as life for high schoolers and kids,” Scott told Page Six at the Turner upfront presentation this week, “I just hope in the big picture that something positive comes out of it.”
Page Six reported last month that some schools were pushing back against the series for “romanticizing” teen suicide, which is graphically depicted on screen. At some schools, letters have gone home to parents warning them that the show “could easily trigger feelings of distress in vulnerable viewers.”
