Another 'Arrested Development' Season Is a Sure Thing, Says Netflix
by Andy NeuenschwanderThis is not a trick or an illusion.
"Arrested Development" is almost definitely going to get another season of new episodes, according to Netflix. In fact, Ted Sarandos, the chief content officer for the streaming company, told USA Today that it's "only a matter of when."
It would seem that the only thing keeping Netflix from cranking out season upon season of new "Arrested Development" episodes is actually just the actors' schedules. Of course, considering how much work Jason Bateman is getting these days and the fact that Michael Cera is currently shooting two movies, scheduling is no small feat.
Additionally, it sounds like Netflix wants to make sure that they do this next season right. Many fans complained about the manner in which the show was presented, with episodes focusing on single characters that resulted in very little screen time featuring the whole cast at the same time.
Sarandos called that a "fair criticism" and hopes to rectify that in the future. But again, scheduling might prove to be an issue.
Meanwhile, Netflix can lean on the success of its currently on-schedule original series, like "Orange is the New Black" and "House of Cards," which have earned the streamer a number of Emmy nominations along with fellow original series "Derek."
