Anne Hathaway Sings on 'SNL'
by Shannon KeirnanAnne Hathaway has returned to host “Saturday Night Live” for her third time. And how does she wow us during her monologue?
By being coerced into a “Les Miserables”-esque impromptu song by cast members.
Jason Sudeikis pops in during her chat with the audience, telling her to cherish her Sunday.
“Oh, I know what’s happening,” she says as he begins to sing a “One Day More” parody. More cast members slide onto the stage, belting,
“I’ll sleep til noon… and then make chili… tomorrow we’ll see ‘Wreck it Ralph,’ and then we’ll stuff our face with… chili.”
“One more day dealing with Jason…” Hathaway joins in amusingly.
Kennan spoils the mood a little bit with his confusion about which day he was supposed to vote. No, despite his excitement, Hathaway tries to break it to him that he’s a little too late.
While the whole cast gets involved, there’s no denying that its Hathaway’s pipes that blow them all away… both with volume and pitch.
If Hathaway can maintain that level of quality on the stage of Saturday Night Live, it bodes well for her upcoming “Les Miserables.” The actors all sang their songs live, nothing pre-recorded there. And still, it's goosebumps-inducing.
The buzz around the flick is already awesome. Just check out the trailer if you’re uncertain—if Hathaway’s weepy song doesn’t make you want to cry (and sing) along, then this is not the film for you.
“Les Miserables” hits theaters this Christmas, and also stars Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, and Amanda Seyfried.
