Anderson Cooper Abandons Live Broadcast in Japan for Safety

Anderson Cooper Abandons Live Broadcast in Japan for Safety CNN's Anderson Cooper continues to take live reporting (and exiting) to new levels.

While in Fukushima to report on impending fallout, safety concerns forced Cooper to evacuate and abandon his live broadcast from Japan on Monday.

A series of nearby explosions at a nuclear plant caused Cooper and crew to pack up, travel away from the danger, and yes – take to Twitter.

He announced on his Twitter that the network would cancel the second hour of his nightly show so that he could travel to safety.

It’s unknown where Cooper will broadcast from tonight. Following his work in Egypt where he was beaten by protestors, Cooper is setting precedent in risk-taking journalism and real-time reporting.

A recent tweet speaks to the bravery of those working in Fukushima:

"Thinking about the people still working at the fukushima daiichi nuclear plant. What bravery (sic)."
