'American Idol' Winner Hospitalized

 “American Idol” season eight winner Kris Allen was involved in a head-on collision today… happily, the singer is doing well, and no one was badly injured in the accident.

It also gave an opportunity for the star to release some exciting news: he and his wife Katy are expecting!

Kimberly Allen, his mother, took to Twitter to reassure fans.

"From Kris: he's in a lot of pain, arm broke, may not play guitar for a while. Prayers welcome please! #headoncollision.”

She added, “Kristopher and Katy are both pretty beat up but ALIVE! Thank you Jesus! They are setting his arm now and will have surgery tomorrow."

Kimberly added a photo of her son pulling a humorous face, despite being fairly swathed in bandaging and casts.

Luckily for the little family, even Allen’s French Bulldog Zorro made it out all right. Later that day Allen himself took to social media to let everyone know he was well… and drop some information.

“Thank you @ford for equipping me with a car that kept my whole family @katyallen @Zorropup and the little one we have on the way safe.”

He added, “Yes I got in a really bad wreck tonight and yes I’m having a lil baby. #gonnabeadaddy.”

He may have beaten himself up, but Allen still anticipates keeping his musical career going.

“Don’t worry everyone I may have broken my wrist but the #OutAliveTour is still on.”

Good news for Kris Allen fans on multiple counts! Here’ wishing Kris and Katy (and Zorro) a speedy recovery, as well as congratulations.
