'American Idol': Watch the Breast--er, Best Auditions from San Diego

'American Idol': Watch the Breast--er, Best Auditions from San Diego Maybe it's because of the close proximity to Hollywood itself, but the "American Idol" auditions down in San Diego brought in a pretty varied group, some of them pretty strange.

Jennifer Diley must have known that she's not quite good enough to make it on "Idol," because she felt the need to dress up in an outfit that can barely be called an outfit. She must have figured that it worked for Bikini Girl (kinda), so why not her? Instead, she punk'd by Seacrest a couple of times and then told that her voice wasn't quite as big as her outfit. And then she cried while wearing daisy dukes and a bikini top. You reap what you sow, folks.

But there was some real talent in San Diego, too: when Cal Berkeley student Kyle Crews sang "Angel of Mine" (odd choice, but we'll roll with it), the judges told him he was the "best male voice we've heard yet." Kyle seemed genuinely surprised to hear that, but was humbled when he was told he needed a new look.

The award for Most Obnoxious Contestant of the Day goes to Ali Shields, who is one of those people who does ridiculous and embarrassing things and then says "omg that was soooooo embarrassing!" Let's also give her the Trying Way Too Hard award, shall we?

Things took a turn for the surreal when Jane Carrey showed up. There's a reason that last name sounds familiar: she's actually Jim Carrey's daughter! She sang well enough to get through, but will definitely have to get stronger to make it to the live shows. And she even called her dad afterward! And he was totally nice and supportive and a good dad! And no, he didn't say any of his catchphrases from Ace Ventura.

Closing out the evening was a dude named Wolf, who showed up with his "git-fiddle" (guitar) made by his late father. He growled his way through some CCR and some Johnny Cash, and he's definitely one of the more unique performers in the competition right now.
