American Idol: Season 10 Episode 1 Auditions - The Good, the Bad and the Unbearable

American Idol: Season 10 Episode 1 Auditions - The Good, the Bad and the Unbearable Simon Cowell is turning over in his "American Idol" grave. Idol kicked off tonight with auditions in the tri-state area and as expected, when it was good it was great and when it was bad, it was unbearable.

While the contestants were giving it their all, we got to know two new Idol judges. Steven Tyler, let us know when you are done ogling the perspective talent. Even though you are a legend, if you weren't [part of] Aerosmith, it would be hard to take you seriously. It will be interesting to see how this season plays out with your "energy" behind the panel. We get it, the whole experience was "beautiful."

Jennifer Lopez, your sincerity is endearing, but we may need to toughen you up. When Britney Spears' #1 fan got down and begged for her golden ticket, Simon would have laughed and sent her packing. While we know you mean well, you're only prolonging the inevitable. Don't worry, you'll learn.

Throw in a little Randy Jackson for good measure, and dawg, you've got yourself a decent panel of judges.

Season 10 started off by tapping into America's emotional well and making each contestant relatable. The human interest pieces pulled at your heartstrings. However, there were still the special few that made you wish you had forgotten to watch the premiere altogether. We're talking to you, Yoji "Pop." Your "Party in the USA" rendition made me yearn for the days of William Hung.

Overall there were some promising candidates for America's next Idol, but have we seen "the one" here in the first round? Guess we will all just have to wait and see.

One last question - what ever happened to last year's winner Lee Dewyze?
