The 'American Idol' Judges are Official, Keith Urban Joins

The 'American Idol' Judges are Official, Keith Urban Joins It took months of speculation and rumor, but at long last the judges' table for the upcoming season of "American Idol" is official! Fox announced the lineup of judges this morning, and while none of the names are much of a surprise at this point, at least we know for certain who's in and who's out.

Mariah Carey, who was already announced, will be joined by Nicki Minaj, country star Keith Urban and returning judge Randy Jackson, who has been on the panel since the show began. Minaj has been suspected as an addition for a couple of weeks now, and it was said that the remaining spot would be filled by a country singer, hence the Urban pick.

You have to wonder how happy the show is to end up with Randy Jackson again, as there was talk of taking him off the judging panel and moving him into a mentorship role, a la Jimmy Iovine. That goes double considering some of the stars that the show was considering for that final spot, including Katy Perry, Nick Jonas, Pharrell and Enrique Iglesias.

There were also reports of Mariah Carey having a diva-ish problem with sharing the table with Nicki Minaj, but apparently any disputes are done with now. Watch for dirty looks when we get to the live shows.

What do you think of the new lineup?
