'American Horror Story' Theme Revealed!

'American Horror Story' Theme Revealed!American Horror Story” creator Ryan Murphy released a few tantalizing tidbits about the upcoming season of the popular FX show.

“We’re far enough along in the writing that I can tell you what it’s about,” he told audiences at this year’s PaleyFest in Beverly Hills before revealing the title for season three:

“American Horror Story: Coven!”

“It’s a really cool idea we’ve been talking about for a couple of years,” he said of the theme. He added that the show won’t be set entirely on a sound stage this year, but instead will film in “a couple different cities.”

Murphy also recently revealed that “female power” would be the major theme of the upcoming season, and its signature monster (such as Rubber Man and Bloody Face) would be a female.

“Misery” actress Kathy Bates surprised audiences with a guest appearance. When asked if the character she will play in season three bears any resemblance to her classic, creepy “Misery” character, Bates replied, “I don’t know until I’ve gotten in and walked around in her shoes—but I’m awfully excited.”

Bates also admitted that, as a fan of the show and a friend of star Jessica Lange, she contacted Lange and asked her to arrange a role.

“I wanted to see a lot of scenes with Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates going at it,” Murphy joked, “so that’s what you’re going to see.”

Maybe he’s not joking. Murphy couldn’t think of anything he couldn’t consider putting in the show when asked.

"Never say never. The show is so fun to do... I used to say [I wouldn't use] vampires, but not now."

So, witches next season… vampires after?
