'American Horror Story' Teases a New Season

American Horror Story is gearing up for its sixth season, and even though FX isn't saying much of anything about the plot of the iteration of the series, a collection of short new teaser trailers is getting fans excited by offering cryptic clues about what to expect. Six clips, each of them 20 seconds long or less, don't offer anything more than brief visuals, but, oh, are those visuals disturbing.

The clip titled "What's Cooking?" features a lonely house in the middle of a wheat field, a plume of smoke in the shape of a question mark and/or the numeral six rising from its chimney. The visual, along with the title, recalls The Texas Chainsaw Massacre or some other cannibalistic terror tale.

"Sunset Stroll," with its shaky-cam shot of a glowing-eyed nuclear family, is even creepier.

"Descent" begins with a flickering shot of cellar steps which, after a few seconds, turns into an ankle-grabbing nightmare.

"Milli Crossing" is the simply terrifying image of a millipede crawling across a woman's hair and face.

"Lullaby" features a baby's cradle overhung with a sinister mobile, and the clip ends with a shocking reveal.

Finally, "Post Op" delivers a shocking image of the aftermath of a horrible medical procedure.

The clips don't seem to share any common thread, and if they hint at what's to come in season six, it's going to be a season packed with a diverse array of frights.

Season six of American Horror Story debuts on FX on September 14, 2016.
