'American Horror Story' Renewed for Season 5 Following Big Season 4 Premiere

'American Horror Story' Renewed for Season 5 Following Big Season 4 Premiere The scary stories aren't ending anytime soon.

"American Horror Story" has been renewed for a fifth season, as FX has put in an order for yet another run following the season four premiere.

It's not much of a surprise: "AHS" has been a top performer for the cable network, and the season four premiere only solidified its top spot as it broke the record for the most-watched telecast in FX history.

Factoring in live+3, the premiere of "American Horror Story: Freak Show" can boast just over 10 million total viewers with a healthy 6.5 in the demo.

Those monster numbers offically put "American Horror Story" ahead of the previous record holder, "Sons of Anarchy."

Even though some fans have considered the show to be on a slight decline in terms of quality, each season of "AHS" has topped the previous one in ratings. The show had a sizable audience to begin with, but has grown almost 150% from its first season to now.

The new season of "AHS" will join Ryan Murphy's spin-off show, "American Crime Story," which will center on the real-life tale of O.J. Simpson over the course of 10 episodes.
