'American Horror Story' Finally Reveals Season 6 Theme

It's been one of the most mysterious unanswered questions of the TV off-season this summer, but this week we finally got an answer. The premiere of American Horror Story finally revealed the theme of the series' upcoming sixth season, a theme that had been hidden by creator Ryan Murphy behind a series of fake teasers over the summer. Those teasers were merely misdirections, aimed at keeping fans from guessing the true content of the season.

In the new episode, we learn that AHS's sixth season will involve characters being menaced by the angry ghosts of the residents of the lost Roanoke Colony. More intriguing than the actual theme of the season, though, is the format in which the story will be told. The first episode suggests that the season will play out like a true-crime documentary series called "My Roanoke Nightmare," with characters providing narration of the events of the story interspersed with "re-enacted" footage of the events.

The season will feature Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Cuba Gooding Jr. and Kathy Bates. The series airs at 10pm on Wednesdays on the FX network.
