'American Horror Story' Casting News: Frances Conroy (Moira) Returns for Season 2!
by Andy NeuenschwanderThe promos for "American Horror Story" have been teasing us plenty, but even the casting news out of the show's second season has some hints for us.
Creator Ryan Murphy made a big announcement about the second season, titled "American Horror Story: Asylum," Wednesday night on Twitter: Frances Conroy, who played the older Moira in the first season of the show, will be back on the show.
Murphy didn't reveal Conroy's exact role yet, but he did call her the "ultimate angel," noting that the upcoming season is all about "devils and angels." That makes sense considering some of the promos, which have depicted two nuns, one dressed in white and the other dressed in black. We also know that returning star Jessica Lange will be playing a nun, Sister Jude, who isn't all that pure.
The show has been kind to Conroy thus far, as she was recently nominated for an Emmy for her performance on the first season of "American Horror Story." She doesn't seem to be a major character in the upcoming season since her involvement was just announced, but she could still put in enough time to be nominated again for this second season.
Thrilled to announce Emmy nominee Frances Conroy is returning to AHS. Devils and angels this year...Frannie plays the ultimate angel.
