AMC Gives 'Walking Dead' Prequel a Two-Season Order
by Andy Neuenschwander
Usually, TV shows start as pilots and are then either picked up to a single season—or even half-season—order or tossed out.
This is not the case when you're dealing with the spin-off to the biggest show in cable history, though.
The spin-off to "The Walking Dead" has just received a huge vote of confidence from its home network: AMC has given the show a full two-season order, locking in not only the first season but also the second months before the pilot episode has even aired.
The show, which doesn't even have a title yet, will take place in the same post-apocalyptic, zombie-filled world of "The Walking Dead" but will focus on a different set of characters in a different location. Kim Dickens (of "Sons of Anarchy," "House of Cards" and "Gone Girl" fame) will star, along with Cliff Curtis, Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey.
While a specific premiere date has not been set, season one of the spin-off is said by AMC to be premiering in "late summer." The already-ordered second season will air a year later, in the summer fo 2016.
