Amber Heard Is Not Fine with J.K. Rowling's Defense of Johnny Depp
by EG
When author J.K. Rowling defended the casting of Johnny Depp in the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, she said she did so, in part, out of respect for Depp's ex-wife, Amber Heard. Depp has been accused of physically and emotionally abusing Heard. In response to Rowling's defense, Heard jumped on Twitter to make clear that she didn't feel respected.

Amber Heard took a not-so-subtle dig at “Fantastic Beasts” filmmakers Thursday, hours after “Harry Potter” creator J.K. Rowling defended the casting of Heard’s ex-husband, Johnny Depp.
Taking to Twitter, the 31-year-old actress, who has accused Depp, 54, of domestic violence, re-shared their joint divorce statement with separate commentary.
For the record, this was our FULL joint statement. To pick&choose certain lines & quote them out of context, is not right.Women, stay strong. pic.twitter.com/W7Tt6A3ROj

“For the record, this was our FULL joint statement. To pick&choose certain lines & quote them out of context, is not right.Women, stay strong,” Heard tweeted to her 48,000 followers.
Heard and Depp finalized their divorce in August 2016 after less than two years of marriage.
“Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love,” their joint statement read. “Neither party has lied nor made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm.”
Depp’s presence in the “Fantastic Beasts” franchise has come under fire, prompting both director David Yates and Rowling, 52, to address their decision to stick with the troubled star.
“The huge, mutually supportive community that has grown up around Harry Potter is one of the greatest joys of my life. For me personally, the inability to speak openly to fans about this issue has been difficult, frustrating and at times painful,” Rowling wrote Thursday on her website. “However, the agreements that have been put in place to protect the privacy of two people, both of whom have expressed a desire to get on with their lives, must be respected.
“Based on our understanding of the circumstances, the filmmakers and I are not only comfortable sticking with our original casting, but genuinely happy to have Johnny playing a major character in the movies,” she continued.
