Amazon Renews Detective Series 'Bosch' for Second Season
by Andy Neuenschwander
"Bosch" might feature a brooding detective and a dark tone, but there's nothing for the show to brood about today.
Amazon has officially given the new detective series a second season on Amazon Prime, where it currently streams for free to all Prime subscribers. The renewal will mean another 10 episodes at the least.
The renewal was likely a no-brainer for Amazon execs: the show had the biggest debut weekend ever for a Prime original, and is the most-watched Prime show over its first four weeks. Though it hasn't reached the cultural relevancy or buzz of Prime's other big winner "Transparent," it's clear that "Bosch" is drawing viewers.
Much of that might have to do with the fact that "Bosch" is based on a rather popular series of detective novels, so there's a built-in fan base. While "Bosch" has a solid cast with talented actors, none of them are big enough names to draw viewers on their own.
Amazon has also confirmed that series regulars Jamie Hector, Amy Aquino, Lance Reddick and Sarah Clarke will all be returning for season two along with Harry Bosch himself, Titus Welliver.
Season one of "Bosch" is currently available on Amazon Prime.
