Amazon Orders Its First Round of Series
by Zack WellsAmazon has ordered its first round of series into production, using feedback from the pilot episodes recently released. But one show is sadly passed over.
Amazon has ordered “Alpha House” and “Betas”, along with some children’s shows “Annebots”, “Creative Galaxy”, and “Tumbleaf”.
“Alpha House”, featuring John Goodman, is a comedy series set around four senators renting a house together in Washington, DC.
“Betas” follows the daily life of found socially awkward computer geeks that have designed the ultimate app that could seemingly change the world, but they have to over their personality flaws in order to actually market it.
“Creative Galaxy” is an interactive children’s ‘art adventure’ that is designed to inspire creativity in children through the use of story, music, dance, and crafts.
“Annebots” follows the story of Anne, a young scientist, and her three robot helpers that assist her with various scientific experiments set in her dad’s junkyard. The goal of the series is to introduce children to science and technology in creative, new ways.
“Tumbleaf” is a stop-motion animation set in a whimsical land, featuring a small blue fox named Fig, who plays and discovered adventure, friendship, and love along the way.
One show that’s lacking on the list is “Zombieland: The Series”. Amazon has officially passed on ordering it to series. When learning the news, co-creator Rhett Reese tweeted, “I’ll never understand the vehement hate the pilot received from die-hard ‘Zombieland’ fans. You guys successfully hated it out of existence.”
Fans of the film left some very negative feedback on the Amazon page for the pilot, “I don’t want to watch a poorly made copy of the original.” It seems evident that people have missed the point of the series, but their voices were indeed hear by Amazon who turned it away.
Amazon will likely order more of the pilots as they sort through the feedback received. This batch will likely begin to air later this year. Be sure to check on Yidio for all the latest news about these shows and to see where you can watch them!
