An Amazing (and Hilarious) 'Community' and 'Cougar Town' Cross-Over with Danny Pudi

"Community" fandom test time: if you can tell me why "Community" actor Danny Pudi would work as an extra on ABC's "Cougar Town" while in character, then you're a true "Community" fan.

Here's the answer: in the episode "Critical Film Studies" that aired earlier this season, Pudi (as Abed) delivered a monologue about how he's secretly a huge fan of "Cougar Town" and he got invited on-set to work as an extra. The whole thing ended up being a lie...or was it?

In the finale of "Cougar Town," if you look closely during one of the scenes in Hawaii, you can see Danny Pudi (in character as Abed) in the background, working as an extra. This might be one of the most amazing "Easter Eggs" in the history of TV. I mean, the lengths these guys went to just for an inside joke!

And it doesn't stop there, either: it turns out that Busy Phillipps and Dan Byrd of "Cougar Town" made their own appearances in the finale of "Community" as well!

I tip my hat to Dan Harmon and Bill Lawrence for orchestrating this whole thing. Not only is it an amazing little post-modern cross-over for fans, but it was done across networks (ABC and NBC).
