Amanda Knox Signs $4 Million Memoir Deal With HarperCollins

Amanda Knox spent four years waiting. Of course, she'll have some things to get off her chest.

The American exchange student spent four years incarcerated in Italy denying that in November 2007 she and her Italian boyfriend Rafael Sollecito stabbed and killed her British roommate Meredith Kercher in their Perugia apartment.

Free again since an Italian appeals court overturned her 2009 conviction, she'll now tell her side of the story. Knox has signed a reported $4-million memoir-publishing deal with HarperCollins following a bidding war with multiple houses, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Washington lawyer and book agent Robert Barnett represented Knox throughout negotiations, adding her to a clientele resume that includes Bill Clinton, Sarah Palin and Barbara Streisand, to name just a few. HarperCollins utlimately had to outbid competing publishers Crown, St. Martin's Press, Atria and Dutton.

"Aided by journals she kept during her imprisonment, Knox will talk about her harrowing experience at the hands of the Italian police and later prison guards and inmates," read a released statement from HarperCollins. "She will reveal never-before-told details surrounding her case, and describe how she used her inner strength and strong family ties to cope with the most challenging time of her young life."

With her book negotiations now complete, Knox can perhaps shift into fielding other offers. She's been a sought-after interview since her release, and a prime-time sit-down has been sought after since she's returned home to Seattle this past October. She's already been made the subject of both "Behind The Headlines: Amanda Knox" and "Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy."

Sollecito is also rumored to be shopping his memoirs around following his own release.
