Allison Williams and NBC have released the first official picture of herself in the role of the boy that never grows up. The "Girls" actress poses in costume to promote the upcoming telecast of "Peter Pan Live!"

Williams, 26, appeared on the "Today" show on Wednesday to promote the telecast and discuss her transformation.

"I sort of tentatively offered to cut my hair; I was like, 'You know, if it's a thing that would help I could cut my hair," she said, adding that it would have been unnecessary. "And they were like, 'You're welcome to do that; we're still gonna put you in a wig."

She posted the photo on her Instagram with the caption "The transformation begins! My first shoot as Pan."

Williams (the daughter of news anchor Brian Williams) added, "Fun fact: I was all ready to cut my hair, then was told by the folks who actually know what they're doing that a wig works better for everybody. So, December 4th, here we come. #wiglife #peterpanlive #nbc."

Williams will be appearing onstage alongside Christopher Walken as Captain Hook.

Last year, NBC put on a life production of "The Sound of Music" starring Carrie Underwood. Though the performance got mixed reviews, it brought in serious ratings for the network.

What do you think of Willams' look? Poised on the top of a ship, she looks thoughtfully into the sun, that recognizable green outfit catching the light... and wig or no, that pixie cut looks pretty convincing, if you ask me.
