Alec Baldwin Goes Back to 80's for 'Rock of Ages' Role

The upcoming musical-movie “Rock of Ages” is racking up star power.
Director Adam Shankman recently confirmed via Tweet, Alec Baldwin will join the growing list of mega stars like Julianne Hough, Mary J. Blige and Tom Cruise.
"So, based on info I got today, I'm gonna confirm Alec Baldwin as Dennis in Rock Of Ages. Hollah," Shankman said.
Set to a soundtrack of the greatest 80’s songs (yes, that means major power ballads), “Rock of Ages” follows the 1987 story of a small town girl, Sherrie (played by Hough) who falls in love with a big city rocker in a L.A. club on the Sunset Strip.
Baldwin will play Dennis Dupree, an ex-rocker who runs the Rock of Ages nightclub. The "30 Rock" star will likely get a chance to flex some comedic skills while playing Dupree who is trying to hold onto his rock star past.
Like killer guitar riffs and mile-high hair bangs, excitement is in the air.
"Can't wait to start #rockofagesmovie. Julianne Hough, alec Baldwin, Mary j Blige, Tom cruis confirmed. I love my cast. More to come," the director tweeted.
Celebrity blogger, Perez Hilton agrees, calling the line up “amazeballs!”
Other singer-stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and Miley Cyrus have been rumored as hopeful add-ons.
