Alec Baldwin, Donald Trump Both Draw Unimpressive Ratings on Sunday Night
by EG
The debut of Alec Baldwin's new show on ABC delivered low ratings on Sunday night, and Donald Trump's interview on 60 Minutes didn't do much better. Perhaps American TV viewers had enough of both of these guys. Read on for details.
The CW's first Sunday-night lineup in nearly a decade put up pretty decent ratings, with Charmed performing solidly behind Supergirl.
Both shows delivered 0.5 ratings among adults 18-49 — tied for second among CW shows in the network's opening week with Riverdale and Supernatural. Supergirl was on par with its premiere in 2017.
Charmed built slightly on its lead-in in total viewers (1.54 million vs. 1.53 million for Supergirl) and The CW's core 18-34 demo (0.4 vs. 0.3).
Sunday's other debut, The Alec Baldwin Show on ABC, had the night's lowest 18-49 rating at 0.4. Dancing With the Stars: Juniors (0.7) was even with last week and Shark Tank (0.7) ticked up slightly at 9 p.m. America's Funniest Home Videos led off the night with a 0.9, its best of the season thus far.
Sunday Night Football turned in big numbers with New England's last-second 43-40 win over Kansas City. The game earned a 14.6 household rating in metered markets, the best preliminary rating for SNF since week 1 of 2017.
With an NFL doubleheader as its lead-in, CBS was up week to week. God Friended Me drew a 1.1 in adults 18-49, holding fairly well vs. the 1.3 for its series debut two weeks ago, also on an NFL Sunday. (It was at 0.9 without a football bump last week.) NCIS: Los Angeles averaged 0.9 and Madam Secretary 0.6, pending updates.
President Trump's 60 Minutes interview wasn't a huge draw: The show averaged 1.9 in the 18-49 demo and 11.29 million viewers; on Sept. 30 following an NFL doubleheader, it posted a 2.2 and 13.54 million viewers. His last time on the show, five days after the 2016 election, drew 18.8 million viewers and a 3.2 in the 18-49 demo.
