'Aim High': Facebook Debuting First 'Social Series' from Warner Bros.

Between the success of shows like "American Idol" and "The Voice," which integrate social media into their episodes, and the recent video rentals available on Facebook of films like "The Dark Knight," it's clear that full-fledged social media integration will one day become commonplace in TV and film.

This next story moves us one step closer.

Warner Bros. recently announced a new series out October 18th called "Aim High," which will air exclusively through Facebook.

Boasting serious production talent in "Terminator Salvation" director McG and A-level teen talent in "Twilight" star Jackson Rathbone and Aimee Teegarden from “Friday Night Lights," the show will be a fully immersive social media experience, drawing from users' profiles to create the show dynamically as the viewer watches it.

As producer (and music video director) McG told Reuters, "The show becomes personal. Music that the characters are listening to comes from your playlist, pictures on the walls, TV screens and picture frames inside the show are from your profile."

Warner Bros. has signed on for six episodes of the web-only show, betting that the format represents a powerful opportunity to expand their audience, both now and in the future.

“Facebook is an increasingly influential destination for discovering and acquiring movie and television content,” said Thomas Gewecke, President of Warner Bros. Digital Distribution in a release.

“This effort takes video distribution to a whole new level by making the actual viewing experience personal and social in a truly innovative and entertaining way,” said Gewecke.

As far as the plot, think "Spy Kids" goes to high school. Read the plot synopsis from Warner Bros below:

"Nick Green is a top agent for the US government - effective, clever and deadly. He’s also got a paper on 'Crime and Punishment' due Tuesday, a biology quiz this afternoon and thirty pages on the rise and fall of the Roman Empire to read tonight…because Nick is sixteen years old. He likes school, but only when it’s over for the day. There are the girls, of course - especially Amanda, a wickedly cool rocker chick who dates Derek, the captain of school’s championship swim team. Nick wants her anyway."
