Aha! Bristol Palin Admits to Plastic Surgery, Calls it 'Corrective'

THR Just yesterday we learned that Bristol Palin would be starring in a new reality show with fellow "Dancing with the Stars" alum Kyle Massey. Granted, she is doing charity work on the show, but the fact that Palin's two-year-old son will be living in a home with three 20-year-olds seems like a poor choice.

There had been speculation about Palin's appearance, as she showed up for a Candie's event sporting a much thinner, more angular jaw.

Palin had been quiet about it, but now the Associated Press announces that she did in fact have jaw surgery shortly after leaving "Dancing With the Stars."

Palin told US Weekly that the surgery was "necessary for medical reasons." What terribly important medical reason could justify breaking and re-setting one's jaw? An overbite. My god, how did she ever live with it?

This is Ashley Tisdale all over again. Tisdale, if you'll remember, got a nose job while citing a deviated septum as the reason. These aren't life-threatening disorders here, people. If you're going to get plastic surgery, at least be honest: you didn't like part of your body, so you got it fixed.

It's possible that America is to blame for Palin's insecurity: during "DWTS," people kept noting how Palin didn't seem to lose weight. Being essentially called fat by one's viewers could drive anyone to want to narrow her jawline.

But still, is this an example that Palin wants to set? Her abstinence spokesperson work has made her something of a role model, whether she likes it or not. Bringing her toddler into a reality show and getting jaw surgery so she looks skinnier for it doesn't exactly send the right message.
