After Eight Seasons, 'Psych' Gets the Boot

After Eight Seasons, 'Psych' Gets the Boot Say goodbye to Shawn and Gus...

"Psych" has gotten the boot. After eight seasons, USA Network has cut the popular crime comedy staring James Roday and Dule Hill.

Wednesday, March 26th will mark the show's final episode. After the show's airing at 9 p.m., the cast, along with series creator Steve Franks, will participate in a one-hour live show and Q and A session, "Psych After Show."

"It has been an amazing joyride these last eight years," Franks tweeted. "Thanks to everyone who tagged along for the journey."

Though the cancellation news wasn't dropped until recently, a source says producers had an idea that the end was near. The series finale will, therefore, feel appropriate, and address important topics like the relationship between Juliet and Shawn in the wrap-up.

"'Psych' has made an indelible imprint on the television landscape, with a unique brand of comedy. The final season celebrates the iconic characters that have made this show so beloved, and will be an exclamation point on the series' incredible run," says President of USA Network Chris McCumber. "And while the series will wrap in March somehow I don't believe we've heard the last of Shawn and Gus."

Sad news for "Psych" fans, though does that quote end with a note of optimism? A stand-alone movie, perhaps?
