Adrien Brody to Star as Houdini in Upcoming Miniseries
by Zack WellsAcademy Award winner Adrien Brody has been locked in to star in History Channel’s upcoming miniseries about Harry Houdini, simply titled (for now) “Houdini”.
After the success of History Channel’s other miniseries “Vikings”, “The Bible”, and “Hatfield & McCoys”, it is only logical that they continue their successful miniseries streak, this time focusing on the life and death of the famed Magician Harry Houdini.
The series is set to be produced by Gerald W. Abrams (father of J. J. Abrams), producer of many TV movies and documentaries, including “Biography”, “Jekyll & Hyde”, and, more recently, “Modern Marvels”. Given his history with biographies and biopics, he seems like the perfect man for the job.
Adrien Brody, on the other hand, hasn’t been seen on the small screen in over 20 years. Perhaps this is an indication of his current career status (having starred in the horrendous “InAPPropriate Comedy”). But, more optimistically, perhaps he was drawn to the role due to the depth of character and all the potential within the role. We will not be sure until we see an episode.
The miniseries is debuting at a good time in television history, with magic and mystery being trendy, and historical stories filled with drama being top of the game. With History Channel’s approach to their previous few miniseries, there’s no doubt that “Houdini” will be a popular show.
Keep checking back on Yidio for more on this miniseries as more information is released. There’s no set, solid debut date, but it’s likely that it will debut sometime in the fall. As of now, Adrien Brody is the only person cast.
