Adriana Lima Reveals Victoria's Secret Model Diet (Hint: Not a Lotta Food Involved)

Adriana Lima Reveals Victoria's Secret Model Diet (Hint: Not a Lotta Food Involved) Landing a gig as a Victoria's Secret model is one of the more sought-after prospects in the modeling world, particularly because they make more money than most other runway models do. But, of course, there's a catch: the diet.

The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show is set to air on CBS later this month (Nov. 29th), and the Angels are gearing up for the event. According to model Adriana Lima, that means a pretty strict diet.

For nine days before a fashion show, Lima won't eat any solid food. Rather, her diet consists only of protein shakes with powdered egg whites in them, and a gallon of water a day.

Even saying the phrase "powdered egg whites" makes me gag a bit. And a gallon of water? A gallon? Does she do anything besides drink water and pee? Honestly, I don't even know how one would fit it into a daily schedule.

Then, 12 hours before the show, Lima stops drinking all liquids altogether: no more protein shakes, and no more water. It's like a half-day fast, but with the added bonus of dehydration. Fun!

It sounds pretty awful, but I guess you can't deny that it gets results. Victoria's Secret models make the big bucks, with some former models like Giselle Bundchen having made upwards of $7,000 an hour. That's not too shabby as far as hourly rates go.

You can catch the fashion show and see the fruits of the models' labor (actually, they probably don't do much while not eating or drinking anything) on November 29th on CBS.

Nicki Minaj, Kanye West and "The Voice" mentor Cee Lo Green will perform at the event.
