Adele Gives Awards Show Producers The Finger....Press Gives It Right Back

Adele Middle Finger Acceptance Speech This has to be considered much less smooth sailing than Adele's hit performance and six wins at the Feb. 19 Grammy Awards.

Irked at being cut off mid-acceptance speech during Wednesday's live BRIT Awards at a packed 02 Arena in her native London, the Billboard 200 record-breaker flipped out, flipped off, and earned the U.K. Mirror headline "Adele: Go To Hell!" The British singer was accepting Best British Album for the worldwide smash 21 when producers realized the live broadcast on ITV was running long, according to the Vancouver Sun today.

In stepped presenter James Corden cutting her off - and up came Adele's middle finger.

Backstage, Adele set one thing completely straight: she wasn't flipping off the people that mattered.

"I flipped the finger but it wasn't to my fans," she told The (U.K.) Sun. "I'm sorry if I offended anyone, it was the suits that offended me."

After following up her six-Grammy sweep and record-breaking 21 weeks atop the Billboard 200 with 21, then winning two BRIT Awards including Best British Female, she then became the subject of apologies from ITV and BRIT Award representatives for the blunt gesture that rounded out the show.

"Nothing makes me prouder than coming home with six Grammys, then coming to the BRITs and winning Album of the Year," she said, met with applause. She was then cut off to shocked boos as she told the crowd "I'm so proud to be British and to be flying the flag and I'm so proud to be in the room with all of you."

Let it just be said....good for you, Adele. Have some perspective, you assholes. It was just this fall that throat surgery nearly cut her career tragically short. Look at the emotion painted on her face. Look how overwhelmed she is by this moment. And the producers cut her off for a performance by Blur?
