Adam Sandler Developing 4 New Movies Exclusively for Netflix

Is Adam Sandler the new king of Netflix?

The streaming service has announced a new deal with the "Happy Gilmore" star that would have Sandler creating four new movies exclusively for Netflix.

This news follows the announcement that Netflix would be the almost exclusive home of a sequel to "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" with the movie also screening in some IMAX theaters.

However, a number of movie theater chains have spoken out against the move and threatened to refuse to screen the movie.

As of yet, we're not sure if Sandler's movies will also get the IMAX treatment. But considering the reaction to "Crouching Tiger" and the fact that Sandler's movies aren't often epic in scope, we're betting that these four films will be completely exclusive to Netflix.

Netflix executive Ted Sarandos has voiced his confidence in Sandler's films, saying that they'll undoubtedly be beloved by people worldwide. The move likely comes from Netflix's own research, as the streamer knows just how many people watch and re-watch Sandler's classics like "Happy Gilmore" or "The Waterboy."

The deal is in the very early stages, so we don't know the timetable for these films or if Sandler will star in all of them (or any of them).
