'50 Shades of Grey' Finishes Filming

As long as it took to get started, you'd think that shooting on "50 Shades of Grey" would have taken longer. But now, just short of three months after it began, filming on the project has ended, and E.L. James, the author of the book on which the movie is based, is celebrating.

"It's a wrap," James posted on Instagram, along with a photo of herself and director Sam Taylor Johnson.

Shooting began at the beginning of December last year, about a month behind schedule thanks to casting problems that delayed production. The producers had a notoriously hard time finding actors willing to take on the controversial project, and the actor they finally chose for the male lead, Charlie Hunnam ("Sons of Anarchy"), dropped out just a few weeks before shooting was scheduled to begin. Jamie Dornan ("Once Upon a Time") stepped in, but production was delayed in order to give him time to prepare.

Once shooting began, though, things apparently went well, and production moved ahead of schedule. Reports have said that Dornan has been gone from the set for nearly a month, leaving co-star Dakota Johnson to finish up some of her scenes.

There should be plenty of time to get post-production done; the film isn't scheduled for release until Feb. 14, 2015.
