Caroline is helping everyone out with their taxes, including Sophie, whose deductions are appropriately ridiculous. In the back, Max is getting fed up with the cake, which Claire can't make any decisions on. Caroline suggests that some of Max's hostility comes from breaking up with Deke, but Max denies it.
Finally, the cake is complete. They carry it out of the restaurant and onto the subway. They're exhausted and dodging people right and left. The subway stops abruptly and Caroline's entire arm goes through the cake.
Luckily Max fashioned together some fondant over the styrofoam to cover up the hole. They meet the wedding planner, and try to get their money, but Claire is refusing to come out of of her room, and the planner tells them no one gets paid until Claire walks down the aisle. Max wants to just leave but Caroline tells her they owe a lot of money in taxes.
They go to try and convince Claire to get married. She's now wondering if she should go back and restart her career instead of getting married. She disappears.
In an effort to trick everyone, Caroline dresses Max up in one of the dresses and hides her face under the veil. Max walks down the aisle while Caroline attempts to get the check from the wedding planner. Claire runs back in, having changed her mind, and Max is revealed.
Claire gets married, and Caroline gets her check. Caroline and Max dance, and Max admits she wishes Deke could have seen the cake.
