'2 Broke Girls' Season 3, Episode 14: 'And the ATM' Recap

Han celebrates getting an ATM at the diner.

Max and Caroline sneak out the back door so Max can break into Deke's dumpster. She wants to sneak in and take back all her stuff so she can stop seeing him. Max makes Caroline go through the window and get her the keys. Max talks about Deke the whole time as she goes in to her her things, and Caroline wonders why she's breaking up at all.

Caroline notices Max is getting her toothbrush and a gnome, indicating how serious she was about Deke. They sneak back out but find Deke waiting for them. Deke tries to reason with Max again, but she refuses to listen. Deke realizes they're breaking up, although Max denies it.

Deke shows up at the diner dressed ridiculously as the Monopoly Man. Max agrees to be friends and pastry school partners still, dismaying him. She won't let him be her boyfriend.

At home, Caroline insists Max make up with Deke. Max goes into her room and finds Deke under the covers, naked. Max asks how he got a key and he admits that he asked Caroline for help... she goes into the living room and finds Caroline trying on new shoes that Deke bought her over with.

Deke continues to beg Max to take him back, but Max tries to explain that she can't relate to him at all now that she knows he has money.

Max swipes her card at the ATM in the diner to check her account balance. She shows Caroline the receipt... she has over a million dollars in her bank account. Everyone is sure the ATM is broken, but no one else's account is off. Earl remembers a note from Deke to Max... now she knows what it's like, it says. She realizes the money is real, and Caroline starts to freak out.

Wearing a candy tiara, Max passes out gifts at pastry class. Caroline comes to ask her when they are quitting the diner, but Max says she's only spending ($143) to make a point. Caroline wants her to keep it, and invest it.

Deke comes in as Max buys another student as her lab partner. She tries to rub it in Deke's face that she's spending money but he explains he wanted her to spend the money so she'd know what it felt like. Max tries to give the rest of the money back.

Deke is finally officially hurt that Max only sees him as his money. He rips up the check.

Max gets confrontational with a customer who is rude to her at the diner. Max finally realizes she doesn't have to work at the diner. She tells Caroline she's keeping the money. They both quit. Caroline runs the back and tries to rip off her uniform. Max is thrilled - no more diner, no more cupcakes.

Caroline is surprised Max wants to give up the cupcake shop. She begins to yell how she will never do anything again and realizes suddenly that she can't not do anything.

Max goes to Deke's dumpster to apologize. She notes that even though he never had to work for anything, he does. Max gives back the money and they get back together.
