'2 Broke Girls' Season 2, Episode 15: 'And The Psychic Shakedown' Recap
by Shannon KeirnanCaroline and Max don’t have enough money to get their supplies for the next day—so they steal from the diner. Oleg watches in appreciation as Caroline shoves eggs into her bra.
Caroline comes into the shop to tell Max she found a site where they can apply for a business loan. They need a letter of recommendation from someone else who opened up a business. Caroline has a letter written, she just needs Max to take it to Andy to sign. She can’t because, “I’m saving up my favor for a booty call on a cold night.”
Max runs in, shocked. Andy’s gone. The store is empty. The neighbor comes out to chat. He asks Caroline how she feels about running her ex out.
Caroline tries to get Han to sign her letter, but Han won’t; it has too many lies. Oleg tells the girls to have Sophie sign it but they don’t think Sophie's legit. Earl signs it—forcing Han’s signature.
Walking down the street, Caroline gets called into a fortune teller’s shop.
Caroline bangs on Max’s door frantically. She tells Max that the psychic told her she would never find love.
Sophie knocks on the door. She’s mad that the girls thought her business was shady, but she is placated with a waffle. Caroline asks her if she believes in psychics but Sophie thinks it’s all bogus.
Max goes with Caroline to meet the psychic. Max demands money back for Caroline’s fortune. While munching Chinese, the psychic puts a curse on them. She tells them she’ll lift the curses for fifty and unless she gets the money, nothing will go right for them.
Caroline wants to go back to pay her, but Max won’t. She tells them nothing will come crashing down around them. A man named Paul leaps from the roof and lands a few feet away. Max points out it wasn’t their life that came crashing down.
Caroline still thinks they need to pay to have the curse removed, but Max insists they keep the money. Han brings Caroline a recommendation letter he wrote for her himself. It says that Caroline spends all her time with business at the exception of everything else.
Caroline pleads with Max again but Max tells her that everyone is cursed. Sophie struts in waving a $100 bill she just found. Caroline tells her about the curse and Sophie panics and inches away. Max puts a glass on a shelf, which falls, and Sophie runs off screaming.
They go to the psychic and pay to have the curses taken off. She says she’s in a good mood, so she gives Max a reading.
She sees a happy life. She sees a large sum of money coming her way. She also sees great love and children in her future.
Caroline will die alone.
Max throws her a bit of cash but she won’t change it—Caroline will die alone. With nothing but her great success.
Caroline is cheered.
That is until she sees postmen taking her mailbox away. It’s been out of commission. Her letter for the grant never will be mailed… because that’s how it works, apparently?
The two decide that as long as they’re together, no one is dying alone.
