'2 Broke Girls' Season 2, Episode 18: 'And Not-So-Sweet Charity' Recap

'2 Broke Girls' Season 2, Episode 18: 'And Not-So-Sweet Charity' Recap Caroline and Max get their eviction notice in the mail. Sophie comes in for her usual, but Max had to stop making certain cupcakes because they had too many left over. Caroline rips up the eviction notice.

Caroline says she knows they’re in trouble... she isn't ignoring it.

“Even in my sexual fantasies I’m giving Ryan Gosling a rent check.”

She wishes there were a sign to tell them what to do.

Two customers come in, a deaf woman and her translator. She is purchasing the property and is interested in a corporate buy-out for the shop. She offers $25,000 to take over their lease.

Max is instantly on board but Caroline reminds her it’s their dream. She turns it down. They give them time to think about it… but tell them that with their rent history, they would require six months up front. Max thinks that is their sign but Caroline still wants to hold onto their dreams and storms out.

At the diner Max gives Caroline the cold shoulder. She tells Caroline that she heard that a Whole Foods is going in, and Caroline gets excited—it will be the hot new neighborhood. They just need to come up with six months’ rent.

Caroline suggests they ask her Aunt Charity for money. She is filthy rich… but Caroline admits she hates her.

While they wait to meet with Charity, Caroline says she doesn’t know why her aunt doesn’t like her. She tells Max how once her aunt locked her in her bedroom and pulled her hair after babysitting and breaking Caroline’s seagull cup.

They go in after a long wait. Charity (Missi Pyle) pulls Caroline’s hair. She has a make-up empire, and lets Max play with lipstick (happily enough). She and Caroline have tension about the cup, but Caroline asks for the $25,000. She turns them down, pointing out they’re not businesslike, not even bringing cupcakes. When she hugs Caroline goodbye, she pulls her hair again.

Caroline and Max make cupcakes to go for round two. They burst into her office. Aunt Charity is now on morphine lollipops from a facial procedure and is high as a kite. Caroline offers to help change her face mask. High Charity tells her that she hates her… until she came around, Charity was the family princess.

Caroline force-feeds her a cupcake, but she still refuses the money. Max goes for another morphine lollipop and checks a box, which has Caroline’s seagull cup. Max explains that Caroline’s birth took Charity’s brothers love from her.

Caroline gets angry and yells that she is not spoiled, she has worked hard since losing her money.

Charity goes to write her a check, impressed by her business skills, but falls asleep on it. They grab it off her horrible face and run.

Somehow the check doesn’t clear. The real estate woman comes back, and reluctantly Max and Caroline sign. They no longer have a cupcake shop.

Aunt Charity comes in, explaining that she halted the check. She gives Caroline the seagull mug, but Caroline doesn’t want it anymore. Charity tells her that she is helping Caroline find her own way. She says they went too big, too soon.

The girls are bummed, but at last they have the money to pay back what they owe. Caroline just wishes there were a clearer sign.

A car crashes through the window. They wish luck to whoever owns the dump next.
